Original Sicilian Reggae Hits Our Shores: Electric Brixton Welcomes Alborosie

On April 10th Electric Brixton welcomes award winning reggae artist Alborosie. This is one show every Brixton music lover should not miss.

Alborosie is one of those rare talents that shine not only because of his unusual background but also for his succinct reggae flavour, soulful voice and brilliantly composed music.

To listen to him would not give away his story immediately but the melody of his songs make you feel as you’ve been familiar with his music for decades.

He currently resides in Kingston, Jamaica and it is only natural and with pride that Brixton hosts his first ever London performance.

Born Alberto D’Ascola in Sicily, Italy, his route to Jamaica was an unusual one. At the tender age of 15 he formed his band, Reggae National Tickets, and was subsequently signed to BMG Italia record label.

Alborosie’s ability to compose great reggae comes from his talented use of technology and skills as a multi-instrumentalist. This combination of talent has also earned him a MOBO (Music of Black Origin) award for best reggae act category. He is the first white male ever to have achieved this accolade.

If you love dub, reggae and especially if you haven’t seen Alborosie live before, this is time to do it.
