The borough’s most senior police officer, Matt Bell, is to leave Lambeth following a promotion to the Traffic Command unit in the Met.

He is due to be replaced by Richard Wood, currently borough commander in Greenwich.

Mr Bell took over the top cop role at Lambeth following the departure of Nick Ephgrave in 2012. He received an MBE in June 2012 for his work leading police in Barking and Dagenham.

See Brixton Blog next week for an interview with Mr Bell and more reaction about his departure.
