Bowie mural artist to visit his Brixton work

Bowie mural with floral tributesJimmy C, whose Bowie mural on the side of Morleys has become a worldwide icon, will visit the site on Wednesday (10 February) morning to see the flowers and tributes there.

He has been in Australia for two months.

Jimmy C – James Cochran – is to release a limited edition print of the mural. Twenty per cent of the sales will go to cancer research charities.

The portrait mural was created in 2013 to coincide with simultaneous David Bowie exhibitions at the Victoria and Albert Museum  and Opera Gallery.

“I have always respected Bowie as an artist and his ability to constantly push the creative boundaries,” said Jimmy C.

“I am honoured that my work has been used as a form of tribute to his memory. The image of the wall has already been reproduced for commercial merchandising without formal consent, so I thought it was important to do an official version of a print of the mural.

” I hope that this print will help celebrate Bowie’s legacy as well as raise money for cancer research charities.”

The artwork is a limited edition Giclée print and can be purchased at £180 from 10 February at  http://jimmyc.arts-bureau.com.
