You’re moving to Brixton? My mother said
her eyebrows scaling the heights of her head.
But aren’t there riots, and shootings, and guns?
Surely that’s not a place for middle-class fun?
But you love the Ritzy, I hastily add
and there are so many restaurants, great food to be had.
Come over and visit, you’ll love it, I swear,
I’ll take you to Honest…they do burgers rare!
So sat in the village, with posh nosh and a drink
she gets this look, like she’s starting to think.
Her face clouds over and she adds an aside:
I liked it better before: it’s too gentrified.
