brixtoncallingpicA charity arts event is being held in Brixton to raise money for the Save Brixton Arches campaign.

On Tuesday August 4, Brixton Calling will host artists and performers from 7 to 11 pm Upstairs at the Ritzy.

They include painters and graffiti artists from Save Brixton Arches, as well as photographers and designers.

There will be performances by local actors, singers, rappers, musicians and comedians and speeches and special guests who grew up in and around Brixton.

The organisers say: “The Brixton area is swimming with creativity, from actors, musicians and comedians to visual artists and designers. With funding cuts currently prevalent in the arts and the need to create a platform for emerging talent, we are uniting in this event to celebrate the area and its artistic community.”

Tickets are £5 advance and £6 on the door.

All profits go to artists and Save Brixton Arches.
