The event, organised by the Brixton Market Traders’ Federation will see residents flock to the  Station Road stalls on Saturday March 29, hoping to leave with a true Brixton bonus.

Since its conception in 2012, the event has re-homed over 1.5 tonnes of unwanted goods donated by members of the public.

Brix Give Take 4Donations range from books, children’s toys, clothes, shoes and a variety of other unwanted household goods.

Organiser Rahima Fitzwilliam Hall, who has overseen the three previous events, told the Blog:  “I can’t wait to see what kind of treasures are unearthed at this year’s market.

“It says a lot for the spirit of Brixton that the Give and Take Market has been so well supported so far. To see people’s faces when we tell them they can take something they really want for free is priceless!”

The Saturday market will see a total of 15 market stalls passed over to the Give & Take event.

A group of volunteers will then be responsible for sorting donations onto the stalls for the general public, and Fitzwilliam Hall appealed for community-minded people to come forward to help by emailing her.

Environmental waste contractors Veolia will provide the funds needed to cover the cost of the pitch fees for the day, and have pledged to support events in the future.

The giveaway will take place on Saturday March 29, and will last from 12pm-3:30pm.
