Brixton Oxjam Takeover launch party unveiled

The London City Reggae Choir will be among the performers at Oxjam Takeover launch party this week.

The even at Brixton Clubhouse, Brixton Road, on Friday (July 20), marks the beginning of preparations for the one-day multi-venue festival which will take place in October.

The  choir will be joined by !Bombo Tropical! DJs, DJ Zinc Fence (Catch A Fire Reggae) and the Brixton-based collective Cpanel DJs Balofo back-to-back with Nomic.

Brixton Oxjam Takeover manager Nick Mendoza-Connell said:  “After months of talking about it we’re raring to
get out there and kick off the fundraising, building towards the main
event in October.”

“On Friday we have a fantastic venue in the heart of Brixton, with a
tasty line-up of local DJs playing reggae, Latin, African and assorted
world beats to (hopefully) pull the sun out from wherever it’s been
hiding, plus the London City Reggae Choir bringing a live element to
the night.”

All the money raised from the Oxjam Takeover will go towards supporting the charity Oxfam.

Two masseurs from the Brixton Therapy Centre will be offering 20 minute massage sessions for £10 throughout the night, and the Clubhouse’s roof terrace has been covered so that the party will continue whatever the weather.

Brixton Clubhouse, Friday July 20, from 7pm. Advance tickets, priced £5, available here.
