Brixton-based police sergeant Jack Rowlands reunited a woman with her purse purely through Twitter last night, after launching a real-time appeal on the social network.

A purse found in Clapham High Street was handed to Sgt Rowlands at 7pm last night, January 15.

Finding an ID in the purse, Rowlands took to Twitter in an attempt to locate the owner.

The search found that was she was in fact on Twitter and was still in the local area. Rowlands Tweeted: “@AshtonForde Sorry have you lost your purse? Just put your name into twitter.”

Ashton Forde later tweeted, “Wooo! What a lovely sense of community I now have! Thank youuuuuu”
