Burst water main leaves Brixton buildings without water.

burst water mainUpdate: Thames Water says they have isolated the burst main and the flooding is subsiding.

Water supplies are apparently starting to return to the area.

However Thames Water said: “due to the size of the area affected it may take a number of hours for the pressure to return.

“Repairs will begin late this afternoon and we will re-open the road as soon as possible.”

A burst water main has left south London residents without water and caused havoc on the roads.

Kennington Park Road is currently closed in both directions between Kennington Oval and Kennington Station.

Thames Water said: “We apologise to customers in the SE and SW areas who may have no water or low pressure.

“This is due to a burst on one of our larger water mains in Kennington Park Road, SE11.”

“We’re working as fast as we can to stop the flooding.”

An update on their website said buildings in SW9, SW8, SE24, SE11, SE1 and SE5 are affected.
