Windrush Square clean-up seeks volunteers

Windrush Square looking toward the town hallLocal community groups are asking volunteers to donate two hours of litter picking, weeding, watering and bulb planting in Windrush Square on Friday 30 September. Tools and high visibility vests will be provided. The two-hour clean-up begins at 1pm at the entrance to Brixton library.

Friends of Windrush Square and Friends of Tate Library Brixton are organising the event.

Annick Alet of Friends of Windrush Square says local groups including Age UK‘s Vida Walsh Centre, the Youth Offending Service, Brixton Society and Lambeth council will be supporting the event.

“We look forward to seeing you on the day. Fingers crossed for the weather,” she said.

  1. A good way to notify Lambeth of work that needs to be done – graffiti, flytipping, broken lights, potholes, dirty streets, etc – is to use fixmystreet.com

A notable feature of using fixmystreet rather than contacting Lambeth directly, is that fixmystreet comments are publicly viewable, so Lambeth can be held to account.

  2. Would be great if Lambeth Street Cleaning could do their bit and get give the paved areas a really good scrubbing. Last time I walked across it it was disgusting.
