TfL have confirmed that all three escalators at Brixton tube station will be in action from Monday.

Since January, Brixton commuters have been suffering severe queues during rush hours while two of the  escalators were refurbished.

The line to get into the station in the morning has regularly stretched back to KFC, as engineers took one escalator out of use at a time to work on.

Today a TfL spokesperson told the Brixton Blog that the final escalator was “scheduled to open on Monday July 20 – which is ahead of the timetable.”

“We are just finishes up the final touches, the plan is to have it open first thing in the morning” they said.

This will certainly improve the commute to work for many Brixton residents.

  1. Ahead of schedule…only to start work in early August that will result in less trains running.
Barely going to get 2 weeks before chaos again.
