Errol Linton band playing at the Effra

Local musician Errol Linton has been performing at the Effra Hall Tavern for just over a year now.

If you haven’t caught him yet, then you’ve a real treat in store. The harmonica wizard is also a singer and songwriter who has been busking on the Underground for 20 years.

His third album, Mama Said, was released in 2011 to critical acclaim and his songs can be heard on national and regional BBC radio and Jazz FM.

He funded his latest album from money raised by busking. He now plays bigger gigs and band members have supported, among others, Dr John and the late Screamin‘ Jay Hawkins.

His style is both original and familiar, blending blues with a hint of reggae, reflecting his London and Jamaican roots.

He performs with Adam Blake on guitar, Lance Rose (double bass) and Petar Zivkovic (piano/keys) and Gary Williams on drums. Each has an impressive CV. Check them out at www.errollinton.com.

Three times winner of the British Best Harmonica Player of the Year, Linton says: “A good friend sold me a harmonica one day, started blowing on it, never stopped, the harp led me to the blues, not the other way round.”

You can catch the band at Effra Hall on Wednesdays 22 and 29 November.

And, just for now, unlike some of the Effra’s other nights, you may be able to get a seat
