Four fire engines and around 20 firefighters were called after a fire broke out at a fish and chip shop with flats above it in Stockwell yesterday evening.

Part of “Taste More Fish and Chips” on South Lambeth Road, including the shop’s extraction system from the ground to third floor, was damaged in the blaze.

The fire brigade was called at 6.13 pm and the fire was under control at 7.38 pm.

Fortunately no-one was injured.

Crews from Lambeth, Brixton and Clapham fire stations attended the incident.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
