A police raid found a gun and ammunition at an address on Brixton Road, SW9, this morning (25 January).

Police said officers from Lambeth’s Proactive Gangs Unit forced entry in an intelligence-led raid at 11am and discovered a locked safe which was found to contain a pistol and ammunition.

A 53-year-old man was detained at the address and arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm. He was held in custody at a south London police station.

Detective Chief Inspector Jim Redmond of the unit said: “If you have any information which can help take these lethal weapons off the streets, please contact police and we will deal with the information discretely and sensitively.”
