The P&P World Cycling Revival comes to Herne Hill Velodrome in June.  It bills itself as “the greatest celebration of the bicycle the world has ever seen – a high end heritage sporting, music and lifestyle festival celebrating 200 years of the bicycle”

To give an idea of what’s in store this vintage footage from British Pathe dates back to the Easter Meeting in 1952 when spectators flocked in their thousands to watch the racing at Herne Hill Velodrome where Keith Bentley won the coveted Golden Wheel Trophy.

Last weekend at the Bespoked handmade bicycle show, London’s Condor Cycles revealed the limited edition Classico bike that’s been handmade in Italy for use in the Japanese Keirin Trophy race.  The Keirin will be the centerpiece of the festival racing pr

ogramme with a daily five-race competition featuring a field of professional riders including current and former world champions. Kerin racing sees riders set off behind a “Derney” motorbike which sets a pace before peeling off as the riders sprint for the line. In a nod to Japanese tradition there will be pool betting on each of the events.

The P&P World Cycling Revival runs from June 14th to 16th at Herne Hill Velodrome. Tickets start at £39.
