Herne Hill Sainsbury’s closed after ‘robbery’

A convenience supermarket was closed after a police incident this afternoon.

Reports suggest there was a violent robbery at Sainsbury’s Local, in Herne Hill, with a member of staff being “strangled” by up to three attackers.

Clare Watkins, @Clariest, said on Twitter: “Herne Hill Sainsburys robbed at just after 3pm. My mum-in-law recovering from the shock.”

The store was sealed off by police after the incident. It is not known if anyone has been arrested, and we await further details from Lambeth Police.
