Jobs fair for young people today

JOB CENTRE: The office in Josephine Avenue, Brixton

The Met Police are hosting a jobs fair for young people today as youth unemployment in the area rises.

Jobs Centre and Pathways will be at the Stockwell Park Community Centre on Aytoun Rd from 12pm-4pm today. Pathways will be offering free courses, work experience and apprenticeship opportunities while the Jobs Centre will talk through jobs they have on their books with attendees. Citizens UK, a community organising group, will also be there to raise awareness of the work they do with young people.

Jack Rowlands, who organised the event with the Met, said: “I have set this jobs fair up in order to get young people jobs and career opportunities.  I have catered for all, from people who cannot read to the people who have just left college. JCP have around 50 jobs to give out on the day. Pathways have got free courses, work experience and apprenticeship opportunities. We have invited some young people you have been trouble with police before.”
