Lambeth council officers, including Sandra Roebuck, assistant director, investment and growth, are this week at the 2017 MIPIM meeting at Cannes in the South of France – billed as “the world’s leading property market”.

They spoke at an event in the London pavilion and hosted a council drinks reception at the Lambeth stand in the pavilion.

In a webpage publicising its presence, the council says that, “at a time of fantastic opportunity for the borough”, it welcomes conversations at MIPIM with potential partners “interested in shaping this time of change, to bring inclusive and sustainable growth that will benefit all our residents and business communities”.

A council spokesman said: “Attendance at MIPIM gives Lambeth council the opportunity to showcase the borough, articulate its inward investment proposition, and communicate the council’s vision for inclusive growth and development that helps deliver benefits for Lambeth residents.

“The Future Lambeth plan recognises that supporting inward investment and the growth of our local economy and business rate tax base will be vital to generate the resources we need to run services and invest in our neighbourhoods.”

More accurate to listen to actual recording of Sandra Roebuck at MIPIM rather than believe a white washed press statement from council:

Growth for “new incomers” with existing residents an afterthought.

    Brixton Pound renamed “Lambeth Pound”

“to bring inclusive and sustainable growth that will benefit all our residents and business communities.”

Some lovely action words and adverbs. Hoping to put them to the test as we look for an affordable unit in Lambeth.

    Greetings Alan,
Many thanks for the information as people had been telling me about Lambeth’s beano in the South of France and I will be circulating it around the Lambeth Forum Network. Only observation is that the Effra is still owned by the same family and going strong and the Front Line Off Licence has just relocated to Milkwood Road! That’s why I’m careful about utilising the ‘gentrification paradigm’. Real life is more complex than reducing it to such simplicities!

    Best wishes
