The Black British Business Awards, founded by Melanie Eusebe and Sophie Chandauka, celebrate and promote the significant contribution of black professionals in business in the UK. Now in its second year, the awards recognise both established leaders and rising stars in finance, science, technology, engineering, professional services, consumer & retail and individual entrepreneurs.

Winner Rachel Wang created Chocolate Films largely inspired by the lack of representation of the full black British experience on screen. She founded Chocolate Films with three key goals from the outset: to create high quality content for commercial clients, to develop and produce dramas and documentaries that tell the stories that are not currently heard in the media, and to enable people who are less represented in the media to learn the skills to tell their stories.

The company now has a team of 12 who run skills-based creative media projects for over 2000 children, young people and vulnerable adults each year. Rachel is currently producing a project in Greenwich where she is developing a new social enterprise which will employ adults in recovery from addiction issues.

Melanie Eusebe, Chair and Co-founder of the Black British Business Awards said: “I congratulate both Rachel Wang and Clare Eluka [who won the Entrepreneur Rising Star Award] on their awards in the Entrepreneur category of the Black British Business Awards. They are role models within the community and demonstrate excellence in the work they do.”
