Law centres appeal for support for charity walk

Staff from Lambeth Law Centre with David Lammy MPStaff from law centres and advice agencies across Lambeth and Southwark will be walking 10k through central London as part of the London Legal Walk.  The walk on 16 May raises essential funds for not for profit agencies.

Mary Griffiths Clarke, chair of fundraising said: “At a time when there is a growing demand for legal services, funding from government is being cut, which makes fundraisers like  the London Legal Walk ever more important.

Dulwich and West Norwood MP, Helen Hayes who is sponsoring Lambeth and Southwark law centres and Centre 70 said:

“I work with our local Law centres and advice centres on a weekly basis, and they provide an absolutely vital service to our communities, supporting people who are often in desperate situations, making sure that they have access to good advice and legal representation.

“The need for the services of Law Centres and advice centres is growing at the moment and the London Legal Walk is therefore an important source of much-needed funds – I’m pleased to sponsor them, please support if you can!”

Mary Griffiths-Clarke said: “Due to cuts, law centres and advice centres need to resort to fundraising more than ever before to pay for training, legal materials and even stationery to maintain casework excellence and levels of service. You can support them by visiting their fundraising page so they can continue to serve your community, every penny counts.”
