Man hurt after Brixton Hill collision involving cyclist

A 35-year-old cyclist was taken to hospital last night with serious injuries after the second collision Brixton involving a cyclist and a motorcyclist.

The incident took place in Brixton Hill, near the White Horse Pub, at 6pm, causing heavy delays to rush hour traffic in both directions.

London Ambulance Staff say they sent two ambulance crews and a single responder, and a man was taken to Kings College Hospital with a leg injury. Police described the injury as “potentially life-changing”.

Earlier yesterday another collision between a motorcycle, bicycle and a pedestrian on Brixton Road left a 17-year-old boy fighting for his life in hospital and closed the busy road for more than two hours.

The incidents led people on Twitter yesterday to question the safety of Brixton’s junctions for bike riders.

One user, @gininthecity, asked of the first collision: “TfL only just designed this junction. It’s horrific. Anti-cyclist. Why?!”
