New book published by local author to help you make the most of your photos

Photo Art by Ellie Laycock Ellie Laycock, local artist and upcycler, will be proudly presenting her second book, being published on 12 March. Photo Art: 35 ways to use old and new photographs is being published by CICO Books and will be available from bookshops for £12.99.

All of us have photos at home that we like and want to keep, but all too often they lay hidden away in packets or on a digital hard drive where we don’t get to see or enjoy them. Ellie Laycock’s aim with her latest book is to bring those forgotten snaps out of the dark and show the avid crafter how to create new things for the home or personalised gifts for loved ones.

This is the book for you if you’d like to discover how to use old slides to make a window decoration, or how to print onto fabric to create a unique bag or purse. Perhaps you’d like to discover new ways of displaying and using paper prints or  transfer images onto ceramics or decorating table tops?  Ellie explains with (as you would expect) brilliant photography and easy-to-follow step-by-step guides.Unusual methods of framing photos are also detailed in the book– why not try using old vintage watch housings as bracelet picture frames? Just as with her last book, Ellie’s Photo Art includes easy explanations of any techniques needed for complete her projects and supplies can be picked up relatively easily.
