Police hunt driver after Brixton hit-and-run leaves cyclist fighting for life

A 44-year-old cyclist was left fighting for his life on Saturday after being struck by a car in a hit-and-run collision outside Brixton Tube.

Police have launched a hunt for both the driver and the car, pictured right, following the incident at 12.15am in Brixton Road.

The cyclist was left with “life threatening” injuries, including two broken legs and a fractured neck.

Detective Sergeant John Hartfree said: “We need to locate the car involved and speak to the driver as soon as possible. The victim was left lying in the road having suffered very serious injuries.

“I would urge anyone who witnessed the collision or has any information, regarding the identity of the driver or whereabouts of the car to contact the Hampton Traffic Unit on 020 8941 9011 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 as a matter of urgency.”
