Ride the Brixton Wave

Brixton Wave, the brand-new summer festival, building on all that is good about one of London’s most famous areas, is coming soon.

The two-day event on Friday, 11 August and Saturday, 12 August will feature a food and drink focused first day – and a second that taps into the area’s unique range of shopping choices, local music artists and bands.

The whole event will be tied together through a new iPhone and Android mobile application featuring special offers, discounts, listings information and local inside knowledge.

Brixton Wave organiser, Ros Griffiths said: “Brixton like so much of London is changing rapidly. I’ve worked with the community to develop something new and exciting that represents this area which we all love, and aims to support the networks here that bind the place together.

“We want to boost small businesses and offer something exciting to locals of all ages – be they senior citizens, families or youngsters. This area is changing and Brixton Wave aims to make sure locals don’t miss out on the opportunity to enjoy the exciting arts, food and shopping offers we have here.”

The Brixton Wave app will help visitors plan their route. Local businesses are being offered a 14-day free trial of the app.

The aim of Brixton Wave on Saturday will be to create a unique shopping experience, with offers and discounts via the Brixton Wave app.

Ros said: “Brixton Wave’s vision is to develop the festival further as we progress. We want it to become a new community asset that is part of the food, arts and cultural legacy of Brixton. We know the area is changing and evolving, drawing in people from across London.

“Our aim is to celebrate all that is good about the area, and support those that are here to make the most of modern Brixton.”

  1. There’s a fortnight to go before Brixton Wave supposedly takes place. Facebook, Twitter and BW wbsite are pretty much inactive. There is no sign of the much-vaunetd BW app.

Is this event actually going to happen ? Is it a scam ? Or is it just run by incompetants ?

Lambeth Council and Black Cultural Archives, among others, are mentioned as “supporters”. Does this mean that they have put any money into BW ? If so did they do any due diligence ? Are there provisions for clawback if BW collapses ?

  2. Meanwhile this doesn’t become a nuisance for the Atlantic rd neighbors no problem because yes, there’s families living there although they are often forgotten.
