Summer gigs in the greenhouses

Brockwell Park’s Community Greenhouses will be doing more than growing things as, we hope, the sun shines. They will host gigs and a special food event in the coming weeks

Iyatra QuartetiyatraQuartet Gig at the Greenhouses multi-instrumentalist quartet (right) with violin, cello, bass clarinet and percussion, iyatra are “a band who live by their wits and produce something different each night” – Mark T, fRoots.

Iyatra will be playing masses of new material from their about-to-be-released second album.

At all the gigs, there will be chance to explore the gardens, admire the Gorgeous Gourds exhibition in the lower Greenhouse and drink botanical cocktails!

Sunday Pizzas Arrive at the greenhouses around 12.45pm and choose toppings for your pizza. The oven will be hot enough by then and churning out delicious pizzas by 1pm!

GARDENING

As well as the regular Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday gardening volunteer sessions 10am to 5pm,
Better Fridays therapeutic gardening mornings take place every Friday from 10.30am to 12.30pm finishing off with a home cooked lunch.

Creative Garden Sunday Morning Workshops on the last Sunday in the month, run by Cat the community gardener, these are a great mix of hands on learning and plant science.

Sunday 24 June 11am to 12.30pm How to take Semi-Ripe Cuttings, by learning about the cells and tissues in stems, you will become much more confident and successful in taking cuttings. FREE but book online.

Sunday 29 July 11am to 12.30pm How to summer prune Stone Fruits, you will learn all about how best to approach to create nice open structures in your trees and ensure plentiful harvests next year.
