A well-known and much-loved Brixton hair stylist, Sean O’Sullivan, has suffered a head injury while on holiday in Egypt.

O’Sullivan of Tidy Hair, Atlantic Road, slipped and hit his head on a marble floor at the hotel where he was staying.

He suffered serious injuries, and fell into a coma, but friends have now launched an appeal for help to treat him and bring him home, after it emerged that the hairdresser did not have adequate travel insurance.

Friends on Facebook have said: “Sean has had a serious accident in Egypt, which has left him with two brain haemorrhages.

“He isn’t covered medically so we need help urgently.”

After the accident, rather than calling emergency services, hotel staff carried him to his room and left him on his bed.

Miles Pearsall, close friend and fellow hairdresser, said: “The staff should’ve call an ambulance straight away but they did nothing. They didn’t even put log it in their accident book.”

Sean later complained of headaches and after three days his condition deteriorated. He began to slur his words and couldn’t recognise his partner, Aaron.

Sean was then taken to the accident and emergency department of a local hospital, where he fell into a coma and it was discovered that he had suffered from two brain haemorrhages.

Doctors told his partner that he may not wake up.  After two days of fighting for his life, Sean came out of the coma.

Due to the high cost of medical care, he was forced to leave hospital two days after regaining consciousness against the advice of doctors.

Sean is currently receiving care as an out-patient, a cheaper alternative than staying in intensive care.

According to friends, the hotel owner had offered to pay for Sean’s medical costs but this offer was later withdrawn.

Pearsall said: “The hotel offered to pay the costs but on the condition that they sign a disclaimer, in case anything went wrong. But Aaron refused to sign it and then the hotel said they wouldn’t pay.”

So far the couple have spent £5000 on medical care and urgently needs help to be able to continue to receive treatment until he is well enough to return home , where he will need further care on the NHS.

Sean’s partner and family now need to raise £3000 and have asked that people donate anything they can to help Sean get better and come home.

Sean is due to have a scan on Tuesday, doctors will then be in a position to say whether he well enough to return home.
