FRI 1 @ KNIGHT WEBB GALLERY
The Knight Webb Gallery, 54 Atlantic Road, will be showcasing charcoal works by Glaswegian artists Douglas McDougall. He works exclusively in graphite and charcoal on paper. It will be one of the most comprehensive exhibitions of McDougall’s work for many years. He produces a relatively small number of large scale drawings each year, which may take months to reach completion. Until 30 July. 10am to 6pm.

Brixton library joins Oxford’s Bodleian library and the British Library in hosting five writers shortlisted for the Caine Prize, Africa’s leading literary award. The free event will be a discussion with the five authors chaired by book critic, editor and broadcaster Ellah Wakatama Allfrey, OBE, who was appointed deputy chair of the Caine Prize in 2012. It’s Your Local Market with Loughborough Farm have introduced a new monthly community market in Loughborough Junction in conjunction with  Loughborough Farm, The Platform, Ebony Riding School and the community of Loughborough Junction. At the market will be fresh produce from the Loughborough Farm, natural grain and herbal food and drinks, handmade accessories, fashion,  beauty and hair products, greeting cards and natural soaps and skin care with many more traders to be announced.
