    Make and Create is a two day community arts event at Simulacra Studios. There will be nine creative workshops with 10 places are available on each. There will also be free food and an exhibition of Artwork. The purpose of the event is to bring the local community together to learn free creative skills and network with other artists. Free.     Join a free but ticketed tour of Brixton Fire Station on Gresham Road as part of London Fire Brigade’s 150th anniversary celebrations. Free. 6pm.

    The Resilience, Ethnicity and Adolescent Mental Health Study Team at Kings College London are holding a community event about demystifying mental health for young people. They hope it will have a big impact locally in raising awareness about current issues surrounding adolescent mental health. The event will comprise of short talks, interactive activities and art projects. Attendees will also have the chance to join a conversation about mental health and the team is particularly keen to encourage young people within the community to come along and get involved. 12pm to 3pm at 198 Contemporary Arts and Learning Gallery, Herne Hill.

    Design Unboxed is in partnership with the London Design Festival & Brixton Design Trail. In a week long special event Pop will be debating and showcasing the role design plays in this ‘community within a community’, with a series of interactive events bringing together fashion, architecture, food, music and more.     The South London Botanical Institute is hosting an Open House event. Come and visit the house and garden and learn more about its founder and the institute while enjoying tea and cake. The library and herbarium collections will be on display as well as activities for children. Free. 1pm to 5pm.

    Fashion Unboxed is Pop’s take on the catwalk experience, this pop-up runway show will feature models in designs from Make Do and Mend, Afro Retro, Mayamade and Strip Clothing, in an unconventional, high-energy runway show taking over Pop’s central square. 6pm.
