Your guide to what’s happening in Brixton this week


Tuesday 19 January: Head to the Tate South Lambeth Library for free films – and tea and cake for a pound. The Ladykillers (1955), a black comedy about a bank robbery starring Peter Sellers, starts at 2.30 pm.

Wednesday 20: The ‘lets laugh’ comedy night at Dogstar showcases a handpicked line-up of up-and-coming comedians and established acts. Pay what you can. Starts 7.30 pm.

image005Friday 22: The South London Botanical Institute hosts a plant drawing evening: an informal drop-in to draw plants from its garden and herbarium and to share advice. Bring refreshments to share. Free. From 7 pm.

At Phonox, Omar-S mixes his discography of funk and soul-infused house. Free before 9 pm, £10 after. Starts 10 pm.

Saturday 23: Tellison play their new album at The Windmill with support from seven different acts. £8. Starts 3 pm.

Sunday 24: Pop Brixton hosts Pop Ritzy which will be showing a mixture of specially curated favourites, classics and crowd-pleasers at its pop-up screen. This Sunday its Wes Anderson’s The Grand Budapest Hotel. From £6. 4 pm.
