Your guide to what’s happening in Brixton this week

Tuesday 1 December: Head down to Brixton Bloc for a life drawing class followed by an arthouse film. Donations for the drawing which starts at 6.30 pm, £1 for the film which starts at 8.30 pm.

Wednesday 2: The Forty Elephants is a comedic and thought-provoking play about a girl gang which has won multiple awards and is being adapted for the screen. It is showing twice, at 7.15 pm and 9.15 pm, at Pop Brixton. Tickets £12.

Friday 4: Noise of Art and Brixton Bloc’s pop-up celebration of psychedelia continues by inviting White Noise, the band behind the UK’s first electronic music LP, to play live.

Friday: Simply Salacious Parties are back celebrating their third year at Market House. Peter Borg is joined by DJ/producers Sarah Favouritizm and Chris Fearon.

Saturday 5: Loughborough Junction’s Sunshine C.A.F.E is showcasing local artists and designer-makers. Expect crafts, food and live music from Brixton-based steel drum band Divine Steel. 11 am to 5 pm.

Sunday 6: Morley College’s Winter Fair returns to kick-start the festive season with a celebration of festivities around the world. There will be arts and crafts stalls, music and dance performances, street food, raffle tickets, family activities and more. From 11:00 am to 15:00 pm.

Sunday: Brixton’s longest running live reggae night Catch A Fire features Tasha Thompson, backed by the Powers Band. DJ Zinc Fence on the decks with the best in Jamaican vinyl. 8 pm to midnight. Free.

    Saturday 12 December 2-4.30pm at The White Lion, 234 Streatham High Rd. SW16 1BB @lambethmusicnet, @grooveschool and Music4Children present the 15th Lambeth Live Explosion. This explosive event offers live performance opportunities for 11-18 year olds in Lambeth and features live bands, singers and DJs.
    Music begins at 2pm. £2 entrance
