    oxjambrixtonSunday October 11: Herne Hill Music Festival continues with Greenhouse Jazz at the Brockwell Park Community Greenhouses. Harriet Eaves is a London-based jazz singer and session artist who has performed to sell-out audiences all over the world. 3.30 – 4.30 pm. Tickets £5, concessions £3. There will be other performances in the park, as well as classical and Latin guitar and more at Brockwell Hall. Check out the Herne Hill Festival website for more details.

    Monday 12: Carnegie Library is offering a four-week Mindfulness for Beginners programme, made up of four one-hour classes, offering guided instruction in a variety of mindfulness meditation practices in relaxed, no-pressure environment. 5.30 – 6.30 om. £32 for the course.

    Wednesday 14: Brixton Knitting Group AKA “Stitch and Bitch” have a gathering every Wednesday at the Effra Social. You’ll need to bring your own needles and wool but beginners are welcome. Starts 7 pm.

    Friday 16: Head down to Hootananny to see The Future Dub Project who are supported by local favourites Brixton Dub Collective and Pareidolia from Manchester. DJ Snuff and MC Honey Brown will be spinning beats into the early hours. 9 pm – 3 am. Free entry before 10 pm, £4 after.

    Saturday 17: Oxjam Brixton returns for its sixth consecutive year, showcasing some of the best local talent. This volunteer-led festival will be taking place across a number of venues: The Windmill, Upstairs at The Ritzy, Club 414, The White Horse, Market house and the newly opened, Blues Kitchen. Tickets are £10, on the door or online.
