Lambeth council will hold a public meeting to ask residents and community groups what they want fron the Lambeth Country Show.

The consultation, on Wednesday 25 April at Brockwell Hall, Brockwell Park, Herne Hill, from 5pm to 8pm, will involve event officers listening to what people would like see included in this year’s popular show, which takes place on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 September.

Lambeth councillors and officers were forced into an embarrassing u-turn after they announced the Country Show, which can attract up to 250,000 Londoners over the weekend, was cancelled this year due to the Olympics.

A substantial community campaign, started by the Brixton Blog, attracted thousands of signatures calling on Lambeth to rearrange the show for September, leading to a volte-face that was finally confirmed earlier this month, with officers promising the show will take place after the Games and with its full budget.
