Police officer ‘hit by car’ in Brailsford Road, Brixton

CORDON: Police tape at the junction of Brailsford Road and Tulse Hill this morning.

A police officer was reportedly knocked down and injured in a “hit and run” incident in Brixton this morning.

Residents were woken to sound of a police helicopter at about 9.30am, just after the incident in Brailsford Road, near the junction with Tulse Hill.

A shopkeeper at Food and Wine, Tulse Hill, who did not want to be named, said: “We were sleeping upstairs and heard the helicopter. It was then that we saw about 15 police cars in the street below.

“Apparently somebody hit a policeman with their car, they took the officer to hospital.”

Brailsford Road was re-opened to traffic at about midday.
