Brixton residents joined union leaders and members last night for a noisy ‘hands around the college’ protest on Brixton Hill.

They are angry at the sale of the Brixton campus by Lambeth College to the Government, for the use of the new Trinity College ‘catholic ethos’ free school.

Protesters say that new secondary school places are not needed, but that adult education is in demand more than ever. The College has stressed that some further education will be retained at the Brixton Hill site, and the rest will move to Clapham.

Report to follow, but see pictures from the event below, by reporter Katie Lathan.
