It’s Your Local Market celebrates with birthday honours list

Saturday 8 October. All welcome.
Max Roach Park, Brixton London SW9 7ND 11am – 7pm. Drinks reception from 1pm.

To mark the occasion It’s Your Local Market is asking the public to nominate women who have made an outstanding contribution to their local community. They are looking for five women who have made a difference by either volunteering, organising events, working with community projects, supporting local people, young people and diversity in the community.

Nominations will be announced at the Garden Party on Saturday 8 October.

Andrea Brown founder of It’s Your Local Market CIC was awarded funds from the Evening Standard Dispossessed Fund just over a year ago to create a community market in Angell Town Estate, Brixton.

markettraderb610The stallholders provided ‘Lambeth Made’ products sourced and made by local people.  The market also hosted events and markets in localities around Lambeth: Max Roach Park, Wyck Gardens, Rush Common, Loughborough Junction and Windrush Square.

Andrea Brown said: “In the last year we have worked with some incredible woman in the community just to name a few Nadia Jones, Victoria Sherwin, Anne Wilding, Lorraine Jones, Rev Rosemary Mallett, Maria Santos and Anthea Massey. Most importantly our women traders in Angell Town Estate, business start ups Natasha Edwards, Hermina O’Connor, Fatimah Muhammed and Charmaine Grant who have developed their businesses through It’s Your Local Market.”
