Brixton’s first cycle hire docking stations are due to open today (12 February).

A total of seven are opening in an expansion of the scheme to southern Lambeth, after a funding agreement between the council and Transport for London, announced last July.

The stations will hold 200 of the new Santander cycles built by the English company Pashley Cycles.

The new bikes have improved handling and comfort, with a gel saddle, lower frame and new gears as well as improved front and rear lighting.
