Bloomberg New Contemporaries is now on show in the South London Gallery in Peckham. Arguably the leading platform for contemporary art has chosen this top notch space to host to a wide range of work from emerging artists. The selection panel chose 57 artists from a process of open submission, and the result is a curated cross-section of drawing, painting, sculpture, installation, performance and video. The works on show address issues ranging from migration, borders, cultural and gender identity through to the use of technology. This mixed media show is inevitably something of a mixed bag. But there are some genuinely arresting pieces which delight, amuse and provoke. It also provides a window on the latest trends in the everchanging world of contemporary art. See next month’s Bugle for a full review.
Bloomberg New Contemporaries runs until 24 February 2019 in the South London Gallery, Main Building 65–67 Peckham Road, London, SE5 8UH and the additional gallery in the Fire Station 82 Peckham Road, London, SE15 5LQ
Entry is free and the gallery is open Tuesday – Friday 11am – 6pm, Sat and Sun 10am – 6pm. It is open until 9pm on Wednesdays and the last Friday of the month. For further information go to www.southlondongallery.org
