The 2019 Lambeth Readers and Writers Festival includes photographic and illustration exhibitions one of which will be right here in Brixton Library.
Douglas Parker is an Ethiopian-British documentary photographer who graduated from the online New York Institute of Photography in London. Since 1980 he has been documenting Brixton street life and now has one of the largest image archives of Brixton.
Douglas says: “Shooting street photography is a way for me to better understand people, society and humanity. The purpose of street photography isn’t to make good pictures – it is to have a deeper appreciation, understanding, and love for humanity. The good street photographer is the one that loves humanity”.
