Laid Bare presents its fourth Brixton East gallery night this Thursday and it’s heavily packed with great artists. The line up includes some of the best upcoming artists in the folk and acoustic scene performing across two floors of the nineteenth-century converted warehouse – plus a surprise special guest! Doors open at 7pm.

By the end of the night you’ll want to keep these names on your music radar:

Cate Ferris

This quirky acoustic pop singer songwriter is normally based in Brighton, so it’s fantastic to have her playing on the night so we can enjoy her hypnotic melodies. Expect tracks from her new EP ‘Disappear’ and music with warm, powerful, soulful lyrics that will give you many, many goosebumps.

Mara Simpson

Mara hooks audiences with her intimate, captivating acoustic performances and perfect combination of warm, honest and rich songwriting. Mara’s sound is the perfect soundtrack for daydreaming…don’t believe me? Check her ‘Fine Lines’ and ‘Lighthouse’.

Don’t miss her performance as she’s currently based in Berlin, Germany.

Luke Carey

A loop pedal, a guitar and beatboxing: these are the key elements of Luke’s set. His material is very varied but he definitely gets inspiration from the likes of Ed Sheeran: heartfelt tracks mixed with more fast-paced tunes where rapping and beatboxing are more prominent. Good news is that Luke is now working on his very first EP.

Sula Mae

South Londoner Sula Mae combines electro, folk and trip hop to create a beautifully coloured sonic experience. Sula’s influences come from various places, from jazz to electronic rock and her tracks jammed with a beautiful mix of instruments that includes the charango, synths, drums and bass.

Keep an eye on Sula as her EP ‘Blind’ is out in May.

Our Man In The Field

This man specialises in creating beautiful, magical acoustic performances. His songwriting is all about observations of the world, the mundane lives of others and even his own, accompanied by mind-blowing guitar skills. Hold tight for this one.

Katy Anderson

Katy plays powerful songs sang from deep in her soul. Her performances are a true treat for the heart. To know what I mean, check her EP ‘Out in the darkness’.

Laid Bare Presents is a brand new night based on the successful Laid Bare Live series that runs at the Brixton and Hackney Picturehouse cinemas, an exciting & lively music night presenting some of the finest singers, poets and musicians London has to offer.

Local musician, Rami Radi, started the monthly night in July 2013, and it has since become one of the hottest live music events in London. Based around two featured acts, the nights are dedicated to local performers showcasing their talent in a warm and friendly environment. And since its formation last summer, Laid Bare Live has played host to some of the country’s hottest new bands (Childhood), seasoned pros (Killa Kela) and Chart Toppers (Ayah Marar, of Calvin Harris fame), all performing alongside the best of Brixton & Hackney’s local talent.
